Accountabilities:
  • Carry out the annual preventive maintenance plan and reduce mean time to repair.
  • Implement contingency plans for disaster recovery & provide redundant devices/cards where necessary are properly maintained.
  • Ensure that fault clearance duration is in line with the SLA given to key customers.
  • Ensure efficient TTS (Trouble Ticketing System) operation with different levels as per setup procedure.
  • Ensure that all network health reports, observations generated by NMC (Network Management Client), customer fault reporting and QoS managed by Wireless Customer Technical Service section are being processed & cleared in the shortest time
  • Keep updated daily record of cleared and un-cleared fault in coordination with TETRA Helpline.
  • Control the operational and management activities of TETRA network including TBS's and Switches, as well as monitoring of spares level, faulty items return repair cycle, un-cleared fault dockets, planned outages, calibration of test equipment etc.
  • Monitor any activities related to project implementation when needed.
  • Ensure that DMX/DTX software upgrade plans are being carried out in a proper manner with minimum traffic disturbance.
  • Seek approval for planned outages for network elements upgrades, reconfigurations or fault clearances as per the outage authority rules ensuring minimum TETRA service interruption.
  • Provide technical support and advice for TETRA radio network hardware dimensioning and system optimization.
  • Recommend solutions for hardware reconfigurations and eventual upgrade to solve unexpected demands in traffic mainly in the Oil & Gas Industrial Cities, for festivals, summits, etc…
  • Prepare the callout roster on monthly basis.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports.

Costs & Profitability

  • The job holder assists in managing Radio Network assets where applicable.
  • The job holder assists the Sr. Engineer in preparing and efficient monitoring of OPEX and CAPEX.
  • The job holder is responsible for attaining the highest possible uptime for the TETRA service.

Customer Orientation

  • Holder will coordinate with TETRA vendor for solving any technical issues.
  • Holder will interface with the technical operations staff of Qtel networks to resolve any issues affecting the TETRA service.
  • No direct contact with TETRA customers, holder should liaise with Wireless Customer Technical Service section when required.

Business orientation

  • TETRA is considered as a corporate business for Qtel dealing mainly with key customer accounts. As such, holder should have very high visibility to help keep the TETRA network with the best possible service to our valuable customers.
  • A Senior Engineer applies his professional experience to ensuring that the project, program, and company will be successful.

Planning & Organising

  • Implementing annual preventive maintenance plan along with the required manpower resources.
  • Implementing appropriate corrective maintenance to Maintain approved SLA with the customer wherever applicable.
  • Implementing acceptance tests of new TETRA network equipment installed.
  • To maintain targets as per set KPI's by Qtel Quality Management System "QMS".
  • To adhere with Qtel approved Processes and Work Instructions as per Internal Quality Policy.

  • A Senior Engineer grows by assuming responsibility.
  • A Senior Engineer demonstrates proficiency by anticipating, recognizing, and dealing with problems
  • A Senior Engineer is responsible for the quality and timely delivery of the tasks being assigned to him.

Communicating, negotiating & influencing

  • Job holder has extensive communication in diverse areas to deal with other departments in Qtel through written & verbal communication directly, further more working in a cross functional organisation in the project area or clearing obstacles for certain issues requires high skills in communication.

  • Quality of process improvement recommendations & no. of improvements implemented.

Preferred Background:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communication, Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
Experience & Skills:

The ideal applicant should have:

  • Minimum of 5 years in the Telecommunication field, out of which the last 2-4 years shall be in TETRA networks and 1-2 years, shall be in the Wireless Networks preferably TMR or equivalent systems.
  • Role holder needs to have high level of precision.
  • Good diagnostic and technical skills.
  • Good Communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft office applications.
  • Communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Presentation skills.
  • Good management skills.
  • Good understanding of reporting and trouble ticketing tools.
